| Torrential Rain in the Gulf |

One of the stranger things I find about living in the tropics is how it can rain torrentially on one half of a street and the other half can be totally dry. It is one of those puzzles that I struggle to get my head around, I know it is so as I have seen it - but how can it be? The photo below was taken by me whilst from a dive boat in the Gulf of Thailand a few years ago. Its not a nuclear explosion! It shows a cumulus cloud formation out at sea and underneath it you can clearly see a very distinct area of torrential rain. Now I get how it can rain on one side of the soi and not the other.
