natural history photography

This picture of a wild Asian Elephant male attempting to mate was taken by a remote camera trap placed in Thailand's Western Forest Complex. It was placed deep in the forest on a track leading to a natural spring. You can clearly see that the young male is in musth from the discharge around his eye. The flash of the camera did nothing to dent his determination but the series of shots that followed showed them moving slowly out of frame. A very lucky camera-trap shot and a very interesting insight into the private life of one of Thailand's notable wild mammal species.
